New Lessons and
Methods to Learn English

March 16th, 2010

I can't believe two months have gone by so quickly. On the positive side, during that time I was able to take a trip to Hainan Island in the south of China. The city of Sanya is very nice with several very beautiful beaches. On the negative side, however, when I returned to Beijing, I found that my computer had died while I was away. Died of loneliness, I guess. Anyway, I now have a new computer and I'm able to work again!

The only new things recently are videos. One is quite short, without explanations. It's an English joke called "Second Opinion", about a man who is unhappy with his doctor's opinion. The second is an English joke called "The Great Zumbrati", about a "daredevil" who can do amazing things, but he cannot do everything!

If you like the videos, please leave a comment on You Tube asking for more! If many people request more videos, I will be sure that my time is well spent.

Happy New Year to English learners all around the world!

I hope you have had a great start to 2010. For me the big news is that I've finished my work on www.LaughAndLearnEnglish.com. I may add a few more videos in the coming months, but the site is pretty much set the way it is now. If I have time, I will try to make recordings of some of the jokes and news stories. What do you think? If many people are interested, it will motivate me to take action! (^_^)

The How to Learn English page has really taken shape recently. I have videos on the left side, vocabulary in the middle, and learning tips on the right side. That is one of the most popular pages on my site recently, so please take a look.

Now I'm off to Hainan Island, in the south of China for a 10-day vacation. I plan to visit several cities and some wonderful beaches. That will really be a great start to 2010 and wonderful preparation for the upcoming Year of the Tiger. See you all later!

Here are some new lessons from the past week:
  • A funny video about a man who has trouble learning English.
  • A strange news story about a man who chooses an odd way to try to visit his mother at Christmas.
  • A funny picture of a very simple, but effective, weather station.
  • An easy joke about a misunderstanding.

My new website, called Easy English Vocabulary, is surprisingly popular! I expected only a few students to take the time to study word parts, but it seems many students appreciate my efforts.

I put up another funny TV commercial on the Laugh and Learn English site which I think students will enjoy learning from.

Finally, I'm continuing to add public speaking articles for my students who have to give presentations in English. Enjoy and good luck! This week's article is called Storytelling in Public Speaking.

I've just made a new website called Easy English Vocabulary which goes together with Laugh and Learn English to help you learn more vocabulary quickly. After learning the most common word parts in English at www.EasyEnglishVocabulary.com, you can then read the news stories and jokes with better comprehension.

Laugh and Learn English is now up and running! You can enjoy six new "delicious" pieces of English humor every week. Learning vocabulary is quick and easy when you read the Strange News Stories and Jokes with vocabulary explained.

You can find new articles on speaking fluently (at the bottom of the middle column) which can help you communicate in every day life but also can be very useful for students who will take the IELTS test (International English Language Testing System). Go to the main How to Learn English page and see if they can help you.

I am also continuing my series of articles on Public Speaking. There are now EIGHT articles with more coming in the near future.

I have put up two new reading pages. Both of these pages have new articles every day, so come back often. The first page is for reading news articles and the second is for reading about history. Both can help you learn more vocabulary - a fun and interesting way to learn!

    April 25th, 2009

Would you like to improve your English vocabulary? Reading is a good way to learn new words easily and naturally. (You did it in your first language, after all!) Here is a new vocabulary story for you to read. You can learn some new words or at least have a good laugh!

    April 5th, 2009

I am now writing some articles about Public Speaking Skills for advanced learners of English. For now I only have two articles there. More articles should be available next month. If you have any comments or suggestions about the first two articles, go to the Public Speaking Discussion Group where you can also ask questions.

We also had our first live classes on the internet using Pal Talk. If you are interested in joining future classes, sign up for our Fluency Discussion Group and leave a message.

    March 24th, 2009

If you want to improve your fluency in English, we have a new group that you can join. Just go to www.fluency.ning.com to sign up. Signing up is easy, and will help me keep out salespeople or impolite people.

    Older New Stuff

Some new videos are on YouTube (click here to watch) to help students learn to speak English better.

The Learn English page has been redesigned. Watch the column on the right (recommended videos) for many funny videos that can help you learn English while having fun. There will be new videos every week, so visit often!
